This is a tumblelog, kinda like a blog but with short-form, mixed-media posts with stuff I like. Scroll down a bit to start reading, or a bit more to read more about me.

The Redline: Poster 4
I’m going to be posting a few files a day from my senior project that I worked on with the most excellentChristopher Paul. Shapes done in Illustrator, texture/shading done in Photoshop.
We branded the proposed high-speed railway for Wisconsin. The name of the line is The Redline, and this is one of a 4-poster-series accompanying the branding. The inspiration for this was the juxtaposition of vintage texture and the modern train.
I don’t normally like a lot of the “retro”, vintage look designs but this one caught my eye. I get tired of the use of the unsaturated reds, beiges, and blues—nothing terribly new with this image, but I love the train. The train has a nice design and the front with windows and tips show a face, as if the train was staring us down. Not sure how intentional this way, but this is an effective was of engaging one’s audience by adding some intrigue and persona.
